About Time - SA History Festival - Mylor events

Mylor History Group is presenting - "A Nostalgic Visit to Silver Lake, Mylor" on Sunday 26th May from 11am - 3pm

At 118 Silver Lake Road, Mylor 5153
South Australia's History Festival 'About Time" will again be held over the month of May this year. A booklet will be available around April which will detail all of the events throughout the State.

The Mylor History Group's event for this festival is an open day at the Silverlake property on Silver Lake Road just out of Mylor.Silverlake was a very popular picnic destination for families and groups for over 30 years. While the old buildings have gone, beautiful Silver Lake remains. Many people throughout the State visited this spot and remember their visit with fond memories.

We will have a display of photographs from those by-gone days showing many of the recreational activities which took place. In addition the current owner, Jon Dean, who has done a lot of research into the early mining activities on the property, will talk about those gold-mining days.

So come along and rekindle those memories of many decades ago - and bring along any photos and of course your stories from that by-gone era.

In the meantime if you have any photos which we can scan for our display, please contact our Secretary, Leonie on 8388 5858 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

The date for your diary is Sunday 26 May between 11am and 3pm with Jon's talks at 11.30am and 2pm. Entry is by donation to the Mylor History Group to help us in our work to preserve Mylor's history.
